Winter Shelter Toowoomba

Everyone deserves a warm place to sleep.

Winter Shelter Toowoomba

Winter in Toowoomba can be brutally cold, and for those sleeping rough, it’s not just uncomfortable—it’s dangerous. With temperatures dropping, many in our community are left vulnerable to the elements, without a safe place to rest, keep warm, or find support.

More than 20,000 Queenslanders and 116,000 Australians are experiencing homelessness.

Winter Shelter Toowoomba is a community-driven initiative providing safe, warm, and welcoming overnight accommodation for people experiencing homelessness during the coldest months of the year.

Partnering with local churches and volunteers, we offer a rotating shelter model, providing guests with a warm bed, nourishing meals, and compassionate care.

Through the generosity of people like you, we can create a life-changing impact—not just offering shelter, but also connection, dignity, and hope.

A Warm Bed, a Hot Meal, and Human Connection

Winter Shelter Toowoomba opens its doors each winter to provide more than just temporary shelter.

Thanks to a network of local churches, dedicated volunteers, and referrals through the Toowoomba Housing Hub, we offer guests:

  • A warm, safe place to sleep
  • A hot shower and laundry facilities
  • A home-cooked meal
  • Genuine care and community

Each church takes one night a week throughout June, July and August, forming a nightly rotation of compassion.

More Than Shelter – It’s a Place of Hope

At its heart, Winter Shelter is about restoring dignity.

Guests experience kindness, connection, and a reminder that they matter.

Our volunteers show up every evening—not because they have to, but because they believe in a warmer, more inclusive Toowoomba.
